LDW Highlights
The launch of the new collective Sotaque, a community born from the desire for connection and exchange among designers based in Portugal whose roots lie in the former Portuguese colonies.
People with distinct life paths meet through shared origins and diasporic movements — those born in Portugal, those who migrated as children, those who arrived as adults, and many others.
This community reflects on how these experiences shape design thinking and practice, opening territories of formal and symbolic exploration where the object transcends its utilitarian function to become ideological, emotional, and culturally resonant.
Its creations can summon ancestry just as they engage with the unpredictable coordinates of the globalized, mediated, and highly technological world we belong to.
It is a gesture of closeness that opens itself to new research and collaborations and that, step by step, will extend toward the countries of origin, weaving a living community — as alive and singular as the accent each of us carries.
The Collective’s exhibition will feature works by: Macheia, Lia Raquel Marques, Adonis Evangelista, Bernardo Barros, Mariana Rola Pereira, Eneida Lombe Tavares, Thayra Correia, Le Brimet, Kelvin Silva and Miguel Saboya.
