LDW Highlights
During Lisbon Design Week 2026, MODULNOVA Lisboa presents "The Art of Hosting", an exhibition developed in collaboration with multidisciplinary designer Sofia De=Francesco. Her work is defined by structural clarity, material integrity and a disciplined dialogue between wood and metal. This language resonates naturally with MODULNOVA’s spatial vision.
More than a presentation, the exhibition creates an atmosphere. The showroom is conceived as a layered spatial composition, where kitchen and living areas merge in a fluid architectural rhythm. Integrated systems, subtle contrasts and refined material transitions shape an environment defined by light, depth and tactile presence.
Within this setting, the collections Paper Derm and Timeless Objects for the Modern Host enter into dialogue with MODULNOVA’s architectural systems. Textured surfaces, restrained geometries and handcrafted elements introduce warmth within precision, enriching the rituals of gathering and sharing.
Grounded in research into recycled materials and artisanal processes, particularly the Paper Derm technique, the exhibition transforms table, light and object into elements of presence and connection. Between function and expression, each piece contributes to a conscious vision of contemporary living, where hosting becomes an art and inhabiting space an intentional act.
The entrance is marked by a central kitchen island, which leads into a sequence of integrated cabinetry, vertical panels and layered materials. The main kitchen connects to a dining and bar area before opening into a more intimate composition with a secondary kitchen and living space beyond. Storage systems are both visible and concealed, creating depth while maintaining visual calm.
Stone, wood and metal define the atmosphere, each material chosen for its texture and character. Surfaces shift subtly as light changes throughout the day, revealing contrasts and details that might not be noticed at first glance. Everything is designed to feel cohesive and balanced, with attention given not only to function, but also to proportion and rhythm.
During Lisbon Design Week, Modulnova Lisboa becomes a place for exchange between architecture, design and material exploration. Visitors are invited to experience the space as it is meant to be lived in — not as a static display, but as an environment shaped by movement, interaction and everyday rituals.
