LDW Highlights
During Lisbon Design Week, Aether opens its doors for the first time — an immersive open house designed by AB+AC Architects exploring what an urban sanctuary could feel like.
Conceived as a multi-sensory domestic environment, the project investigates how architecture engages the nervous system through color, proportion, texture, light, scent and silence. Space unfolds as a sequence of atmospheres rather than rooms.
Visitors move freely through the apartment as participants. Surfaces absorb or reflect light, materials shift in depth and temperature, and transitions unfold gradually — encouraging a slower way of being in space.
A curated selection of designers and artists based in Portugal is embedded within the environment: Sebastião Lobo, 3TWINS, Frederico Oliveira Vaz, Studio Lilium and Odara Studio. Their works enter in dialogue with the architecture, extending its language and reinforcing its atmosphere.
Aether is not presented as a finished image, but as a living condition — a prototype for a different way of inhabiting the city, where domestic space becomes a place of regulation and quiet intensity.
