Rita Teles Garcia (KROH) presents at Tinta nos Nervos the first two pieces resulting from the Crochet Comum project, developed as part of Lisbon Design Week.
Community‑based in nature, the project transforms poetry into material through crochet, bringing participants together to create words that form collective compositions. The first iteration was based on a poem by Maria Teresa Horta; in the second, each participant draws a prompt at random, using it as a starting point to arrive at a word, with all words later assembled into a shared composition.
Alongside the presentation, two workshops led by Rita Teles Garcia will take place: an introductory session focused on crochet fundamentals, and an intermediate one dedicated to constructing words.
Both the presentation and the workshops reinforce the relationship between gesture, language, and collective creation, stitch by stitch, word by word.
