Casa do Jardim da Estrela Arraiolos Reimaginado
Arraiolos Reimaginado presents Portugal’s iconic Arraiolos embroidery through a contemporary design perspective
27 — 30 May
10:00 — 18:00
LDW Highlights
Designers from Lisbon and across the country reinterpret this textile tradition using new forms, materials, and creative approaches, keeping its cultural heritage alive. Instead of treating the works as wall textiles, the exhibition explores how Arraiolos can inhabit objects—transforming stools into embroidered surfaces that connect craftsmanship, utility, and contemporary aesthetics. This collective exhibition will present the work of Filipa Won, Joao Bruno, João Barrulas, Sara Ratola, Emilía Cristina, Paula Ramalho and Wesley Sacardi.
Casa do Jardim da Estrela is dedicated to promoting access to culture, environmental education, knowledge, and training for sustainability. The iconic white chalet, located in Estrela Garden, was inaugurated in 1882 as the first public kindergarten in Portugal. It served as a model for educational vision through contact with nature and has recently been restored to the public following extensive renovations.
