LDW Highlights

Following on from last year's programme, Burel Factory is deepening its research into the creative potential of burel in this new edition, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, collaboration and contemporary design.
Under the concept "Matter in Dialogue", the brand proposes a meeting between textile heritage, furniture design and contemporary art. Starting with burel - 100 per cent Portuguese wool produced in Serra da Estrela - the project explores new formal and expressive possibilities, expanding the material beyond its utilitarian function.
In collaboration with Studio Silva, a selection of burel upholstered pieces will be presented, integrated naturally into the space and complemented by two pieces from the studio's collection. (Chiado store 17A) Additional textile elements reinforce the brand's identity and emphasise the versatility of the material. The installation also includes a moodboard of the creative process, with sketches, samples and references, revealing the conceptual development and technical know-how behind the pieces.
The programme also includes the presentation of two works by artist Carla Rebelo, who explores burel as a support and means of expression, expanding its artistic and conceptual dimension. (Chiado store 15B)
By combining industry, design and art, Burel Factory invites the public to discover how an ancient material continues to reinvent itself, shaping contemporary objects and experiences that celebrate knowledge, technique and creativity.

In another participants space (Espaço D’ALTE), Burel Factory will also present new pieces from the collaboration with Rian Van Dijk.

Burel Factory is a Portuguese brand from Serra da Estrela, dedicated to the preservation and regeneration of the industrial heritage, the deep knowledge of the wool industry that spans generations, and the valorisation of the unique culture, tradition, people and history that mark this same place.
